The Mockup Hat Pattern Launch

A Cabled Hat without Cable Knitting

Do you ever want to knit something that looks cabled, but don’t actually feel like knitting cables? Get the pattern for the Mockup Hat and you’ll have just the project for times like these. The Mockup Hat uses simple knitting techniques to fake cables. In this hat, you’ll pass stitches over one another fake the elongated stitch that is often created in cabling.

Features of the Mockup Hat:

The half twisted brim keeps the bottom of the hat nice and neat. You can easily add stitches in multiples of four to get your desired gauge and sizing. After the brim, you settle into a nice and easy repeat pattern that is perfect for knitf-lixing and lounging.

Just like all of my hat patterns, you don’t need to follow a chart or worry about complex abbreviations. I net everything out for you and explain the skills needed in the pattern notes. So you can knit this beanie with confidence, even if you don’t know how to PSSO before downloading the pattern!

What You’ll Need to Knit the Mockup Hat

This hat pattern calls for a US Size ten circular knitting needle. This is also a 6mm needle. The 16 inch length works perfectly for hats. The larger sizes of the pattern though might feel a bit scrunched so keep that in mind. I almost put this pattern in time out because the sizing looked off while I was knitting it.

For the yarn, Super bulky or chunky is great. I’ve knit this and a similar hat using two different yarns. Big Twist in super bulky is a great option, as is Lion Brand Re-spun in their thick and quick.
