How to Host a Pinkalicious Birthday Party
My little girl is obsessed with the Pinkalicious books. Between the book and the Tonie she has the story memorized. So when it came time to pick a birthday party theme, there was no question what it would be. But how does one host a Pinkalicious Birthday Party? Stick around to find out how we did it!
Get Pink, Lots of Pink
The best way to make a bit impact and set the tone is to find pink in just about every party decoration you can. We did a pink pack of balloons and hung them up everywhere. I bought this table arch thing and it has come in handy so much for decorating. On the tables we draped pink table cloths and I got a pack of 12 pink cheese cloths for the mantle, counter tops, and anywhere else we needed a splash of pink.
For a gift we got her the Pinkalicious plush doll and she’s been sleeping with it every night. Then for favors and as an activity for the party, I ordered a plain set of wooden star shaped wands and sticky gems for the kids to decorate. We also purchased stick on earrings, bracelets, rings, light up necklaces, body glitter, and fairy wings for all of the kiddos! They loved being able to dress up and be fancy. I placed a mirror nearby so that they could see their transformation. This was a lot but rather than doing favors that just get tossed aside, or thrown away it really made an impact on the party.
Pink dress and Fairy Wings
My daughter is obsessed with pink, dresses, and butterfly wings. I knew that if she had them for the party, she’d also wear them again and again, so for part of her present we let her build her very pink outfit.

The Food:
It was hard to find pink cupcakes (like the cake not just the icing). We thought about ordering red velvet, or a pink cake, but she really had her heart set on pink cupcakes. After all, it’s the premise of the book so can you really blame her? We went with the Pinkalicious recipe. The website does give some additional ideas on how to host your themed party!
We also stopped by Baldingers and picked up pink and green candy. They had gummy bears, sour cherry bites for the tops of the cupcakes, jelly beans, and rock candy lollies.
For the food, we ordered from Chik Fil A because it’s always a winner. We made a pink and a green fruit salad, and offered pesto pasta! We had a green charcuterie board but were having so much fun we forgot to put it out. We had a regular Cesar salad and my mother in law made her delicious summer cucumber salad.

Get Creative
I cut the word pink out of cardboard, painted it pink and bedazzled it. I wanted to do three for when she says “Pink, Pink, PINK!” But I ran out of time. Loving knitting and crochet, I have a pretty big yarn stash. So I searched my stash for some fun pinks, purples, yellows, greens, and blues. Then I ordered blank headbands to crochet them all crowns. They turned out so cute! I think I might post a tutorial on these soon!
Lastly, the little lady wanted a life sized version of her favorite character. Using a coloring page and the book for reference, I sketched it out and then used a grid to scale the size. First I tried 1/2 inch to one inch grids. But that wasn’t quite large enough. So I took the one inch grid and made a three inch grid! It was huge but totally worth it. My father in law had some woo left from a project so I took that and painted it with a primer.
To transfer the image, flip your drawing over and rub it with graphite or charcoal. Flip it back, right side up and lay it on your surface. I used my sewing weights to keep it from shifting on me. Then trace your picture to transfer it! Lastly grab some acryllic paint and spend the next three nights painting the picture like an adult coloring page!

All of the girls (and even the boys) had a blast decorating wings, dressing up, and running around playing pretend.
