Plain Jane Sweater

Simple sweaters don’t have to be boring. This sweater features the beauty of the simple knit stitch. Creative increases send stitches in different directions for a beautiful yoke that is worked in the round. All you need is a US size nine knitting needle, your favorite worsted yarn, and four stitch markers, the rest is in the pattern!

Plain Jane Sweater Dress

After I designed and knitted the Plain Jane Sweater, I knew I wasn’t done with the pattern just yet. I wanted to play around with it some more but how? The element that makes both of these designs so alluring is the shaped yoke. Why not emphasize that and add it under the arms to make the body of the sweater dress?

Recommended tools for knitting sweaters

I love interchangeable knitting needle sets for knitting sweaters. These sets allow you to not only cut down on the total number of needles you need to purchase, but they also come with varying lengths of cables. When I knit a sweater it’s helpful to be able to switch to a longer needle that will give you the slack to try on your project and make sure the fit is going according to plan. But I don’t like to work with these longer needles. So everyone once in a while I’ll switch from a shorter to a longer cable, knitting a round as I do to be able to try it on. Then I switch back.

More Sweaters to Come!

Yes there might only be a few sweaters on this page, but there are more planned! I’m finishing up a scarf that’s been on my needles for forever, and once that is cast off I’ll be off to the races! While I don’t offer the opportunity to test every single pattern, these are a bit more involved and do benefit from a good tester. There will be upcoming opportunities to receive the pattern for free in exchange for providing feedback on the written pattern and photos of the finished project. Stick around!
