First Tracks Triangular Shawl Pattern

The First Tracks shawl construction method is a triangular shawl. Triangular shawls are so much fun and they are so multifunctional. Construction of this project utilizes stockinette stitch and Vikkel braids to carry a single stitch across the full shawl.

Knit Picks makes a fabulous tweed yarn in stunning colors. It’s a dream to work with and it needs a design that lets the yarn speak. This yarn was made for this shawl. To knit the shawl as it is designed you’ll need about six skeins of this fingering weight yarn.

You’ll Also Need:

For this project, I recommend a US Size two needle which is a 2.75mm needle. With it being a larger shawl having a longer needle to work with will make it easier. Also, a personal preference for me on this project is to use a circular needle as the weight will hang in a way that makes it easier on your wrists.

You’ll also need four stitch markers for the First Tracks Shawl Knitting Pattern. These will help you mark where you make your increases and make working this shawl a bit more relaxing and fun.

A tapestry needle will be needed at the end to weave in the yarn tails.

Choose Your Own Adventure Border

The First Tracks Shawl knitting pattern features two different border option. Once you’ve knit the shawl, you pick either to knit the border to match the top edge of the shawl. You can also follow the fully written instructions to crochet the border. Or, you could knit whatever border you like on this shawl, for example, adding a bit of lace!
