Peppermint Christmas Tree Skirt Knitting Pattern

A Sweet Treat for Under Your Christmas Tree!

The wait is over! I’ve finally finished the Peppermint Christmas Tree Skirt Knitting Pattern and ho ho ho did it turn out! Too much? I can’t contain myself, I’m just too excited for this project. Now that it’s off of the needles you can really see the shape and drape of the tree skirt. The color of the Snowstorm Yarn from Hobbii is perfect for my red tree.

I’m so excited to share this pattern with you.

To Knit the Peppermint Christmas Tree Skirt You’ll Need:

Yarn:

Snowstorm by Hobbii is a brilliant yarn. Its wool roving but the stitch definition is great. It’s also soft and easy on your hands. My only complaint is the size of the skein. Each skein is about 54 yards so they’re not huge. This skirt will require about 23-25 skeins. I used 23.5 exactly. This is the best yarn I’ve ordered from Hobbii now that Joann’s has left us. The first two didn’t wow me, but this one did.

Needles:

If you have seen my previous Christmas Tree Skirts, you know how they work. If not, let’s dive into that shall we? We start knitting the skirt in the round. The size for this project is US Size 8. When casting on, you’ll need to start with either double pointed needles or a magic loop. I opt for DPNS in my pattern instructions. Then you knit this Christmas Tree Skirt from the center out. This means you will eventually want to switch to a circular needle, and then an even longer cabled circular needle. I use a 40 inch as the project gets really big.

Stitch Markers:

There is a lot of increasing early on in this pattern and stitch markers will save you so much time and frogging. I recommend having one unique stitch marker to highlight the beginning of the round, and others to mark off the increase locations.
