String of Hearts Crochet Garland

In preparing and planning for my daughter’s birthday party, I stumbled across this adorable String of Hearts Crochet Garland. Immediately I scrambled for the tutorial. It’s that Cute and the Perfect! The pattern and tutorial comes from Delia Creates and I am obsessed with it. Stick around and read on to find out why.

What Makes this String of Hearts Crochet Garland a Great Tutorial:

Instructional Format:

Your girl can crochet but typically is better in the round or as borders. I’m not the best and my understanding is very basic. I cannot read the complicated symbols for most crochet patterns. It goes back to the reason I started designing my own knitting patterns, and why they are written the way they are.

Delia Creates has created a pattern tutorial with written instructions and a video. Videos are always so very helpful. She steps you through the garland bit by bit, as if she was right there in your craft room or living room with you. I very much appreciate the format of this tutorial. I had a bit of trouble on the double back to form the tops of the hearts – but again I think this was my brain and my beginner crochet skills combining. No worries though, I gave it a try based on her instructions and it worked like a charm!

Yarn:

You can literally use any yarn and any crochet hook to create this garland in different sizes. It’s so versatile. I used a thick worsted weight, very acrylic yarn (one that I probably would never actually knit something wearable out of) because this will be hanging on my front door. You could have these all over your house or kids rooms because of the versatility. Please just sure to hang them out of kids reach if you do put them where your kiddos might be unsupervised. I hang mine on the curtain rod where neither of them can reach.

Finished Project:

It’s too cute not to love. Some beginner patterns leave you with a project that very much looks and feels as though a beginner made it. These garlands are just so sweet you have to fall in love.
