Emily’s Scarf is a Fashionable and Functional Winter Accessory

One of my all time favorites, Emily’s Scarf is perfect for any woman in your life. This fashionable winter accessory is warm and comfortable to wear. The pattern uses a #3 or #4 yarn, light yarn or worsted yarn with a US Size 5 knitting needle. That’s 3.75mm for our friends across the pond. You will also need a cable needle or DPN. I prefer to use DPNs for cabling, especially since this scarf is such a quick knit.

If you’ve never done knit belows, it might look a bit tricky. This pattern however walks you through with complete written instructions. I’ve used a “micro acrylic” for the scarf pictured, so the stitches slip around a bit more. If you use a more textured yarn your knit belows will have more definition and won’t slide around.

Emily’s scarf also features a half twisted rib edging. You’ll need to knit through the back loop and purl through the back loop to knit this style of edging. You can easily opt for a faster Knit One, Purl One border if you prefer.

Knit a short version for a chunky children’s scarf, or make it longer for adults. You can even stitch or graft the ends together to make it a beautiful infinity scarf! It’s really up to you!
