This pattern features written instructions with no charting. There are two versions of the hat in the written pattern: One for a complete hat and one messy bun option. This pattern also features instructions for a double or folded brim for added warmth but the choice is up to you.
The recommended yarn for this pattern is Caron Simply Soft. You can opt for another lighter worsted weight yarn.

My Sweet Addy Hat is all grown up!
The third time is the charm right? So I initially set out to make a hat for my niece Addison, and ended up making a toddler sized version. You can check that out here. After I turned that into a pattern, I tried again. And this time got the kids size pattern. Now, the Addy Hat Pattern for Adults is finally available.
By this time I had fallen in love and wanted to make the Addy in an adult size. The chunky cables required a larger quantity of stitches than I had expected. So sizing this hat was a bit tricky. After publishing the two kids sizes though and I saw how popular this sweet little hat was becoming. And this fueled my drive yet again.
The ultimate tipping point was when a friend of mine requested the hat in a messy bun version. It was time for the Addy Hat to grow up. So I grabbed the beautiful dusky rose/rose gold color my friend Alex had fallen in love with and my trusty size three needles.

After a couple of days, and one small milestone after another, the Addy was growing up before my eyes. And now she’s here and ready for you!
What’s in the Addy Pattern for Adults?
This download includes two options. The first option is for the messy bun version of the hat which is pictured in this post.
The second option is to knit a complete hat. For the smaller sized heads this hat might be a bit slouchy, and is the perfect hat for a winter day after skiing or walking to work!
