Pattern Update: Apres Ski Hat

Now Available in Double Strand Sizing

I’ve taken on of my favorite hats, the Apres Ski Hat and upped the anti a bit.  I did this by knitting it with not one, but two strands of acrylic yarn.  This makes the hat a bit stiffer and warmer, helping the hat to keep its shape while it keeps your head even warmer than before.

The other day I was sitting around looking at this gorgeous avocado colored yarn that I have, and I knew I just had to knit a hat out of it.  I had two skeins of the yarn, and it was on the thinner side of the worsted weight yarns.

I really wanted this hat to be as functional as it is beautiful.  I started playing around with the idea of using two skeins of yarn, and working with both of them at the same time.

The result was awesome!

The pattern is worked with worsted weight yarn.  Like I said, it’s on the thinner side.  If you’ve knit hats before, you’ve probably noticed that there are varying definitions of “worsted” weight yarn.

When I work with yarn like Big Twist, in worsted, I knit with a single strand.  With this worsted from Knit Picks, I triecd to double it up.

The pattern is also available in small, medium and large sizes.  It’s worked over a series of ten stitches, you can adjust this pattern to get the perfect fit with ease.

If you have questions on sizing, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me via the site or by emailing maggie (at) knittinginthepark (dot) com.

You can get the pattern on Etsy and on LoveKnitting.  I’m working on updating my Ravelry account – it needs a lot of love and a lot of patterns need to be added.  Personally I like the process on these two sites better but understand that many knitters love Ravelry.
