Found our Photographer

We finally selected our Wedding Photographer

One of the last things that we had still yet to decided upon, was who we would choose and hire as our wedding photographer.  Your wedding is such a busy and jam packed day, there is no way you’ll have the time to take the photos you want yourself – so you are totally entrusting someone else to capture all of the moments of one of the most special days in your life.

I wanted a wedding photographer that would capture our day, but wouldn’t take all day.

We started researching and were finding photographers that were great.  However, they STARTED at three grand.  That’s more than we wanted to spend for sure.  Then we started to wonder, if we get someone for a cheaper price, would it be reflected in the quality of our wedding photos?

We hemmed and hawed over what to do and kicked the can down the road a few times; far enough down the road that it’s one of the last remaining outstanding things to do.  Well, that and find my nieces dresses for the wedding but that’s another story/post all together (seriously with Easter and First Communion season around the corner you’d think you’d be able to find a nice yet reasonable dress…that’s not pink…).

Then one day it hit Chris.  He’s friends with a photographer.

He has a friend who was a photo journalist, and though photography is not currently his full time job, he takes great photos and does weddings.  So we called him up.  I had never met Greg before, so I wasn’t sure what to expect.  Chris gave me a bit of background about how they met and why they had remained friends, but that only gets you so far.

This is my wedding, and this person is going to be capturing some of the sweetest, most intimate moments of mine and my family’s lives, so I want to feel comfortable around him.

There was no cause for concern at all – and I immediately saw why Chris became friends with Greg in the first place.  Greg Tarr is an approachable, friendly and experienced photography professional who is a good person, that you can easily cary on a conversation with.

We met him for a drink and to talk about the wedding and what we wanted.  Right away, Greg put us first. He asked a lot of questions about the wedding and the day itself.  But he also asked what kind of photos we were looking to have from the wedding, so that he could determine whether he was a good fit for what we wanted.

We found our wedding photographer.

We wanted to work with Greg even before he told us his price.  I won’t get into specifics out respect for our wedding and for Greg’s business but I will tell you it was less than the $4,000.00 or more that the other “professionals” started with.  And Greg gives you the photos from your day to get printed, post to wherever your heart desires (and to share with friends and family, without any extra charges).

If you’re looking for someone that you can feel comfortable around, and in confident in their work, while not breaking the bank for your photography needs (from senior photos to wedding photos) I would recommend Greg Tarr.  I cannot wait to post some of the photos from the big day, almost as much as I can’t wait for the day itself.

PS the featured image on this post was not taken by Greg, but as a selfie with one of our iPhones.  I promise we’ll have better photos to share soon!
