Forget the Sugar Plums, I’m Dreaming of Velvet

My newest pattern for Christmas is in the works! A Vintage Velvet Tree Skirt!

One of my favorite times of the year to knit decorations, is Christmas.  Last year, I started with some ornament sweaters and got the bug.  I loved how cute they were! I plan on making some more this year, to fill in my big tree in our little living room.  I’ve made some Christmas tree skirts in the past but now I feel like they were just practice runs for my latest – the Vintage Velvet Tree Skirt!

I’m sharing some pictures of the WIP because I’m still finishing it up – but I just could’t wait until it was done to share this velvety goodness with you.

The yarn I’m using is from Yarnspirations.  It’s Bernat’s Velvet.  I have found a few breaks in the first skein so far.  But I’m waiting to see what the next skein looks like before I make too harsh of a judgement.  I’ve heard some people who weren’t wild about the yarn because it’s not stretchy for wearables, and requires hand washing.  So far I love how soft and snuggly it is and I cannot wait to see it under my tree.

I’ve chosen to knit it in their Vapor Grey.  While the name doesn’t sound super Christmasy (although I do get visions of Jacob and Robert Marley from the Muppet’s Christmas Carol in my head), it will blend our grey living room with the rest of our red and green Christmas decorations.
