Knit-Wits on Clubhouse

On Clubhouse? Join Me and other Knit-Wits Tuesdays at 7PM!

Clubhouse is the new networking app that is taking the internet by storm, even though it’s still in Beta. I’ve joined for my day job and become hooked (poor fiber joke I know). I’ve applied to have the first knitting clubhouse, at least that I know of. Regardless of whether they approve my application, or when that happens, we’ll be meeting at 7pm on Tuesday evenings. The room will be called “Knit-Wits on Clubhouse”. I believe you can search either that or my name and find it.

Don’t Know What Clubhouse Is Or Why It’s Perfect for Knitters?

What Is this New App?

Think of this app as something like podcasts combined with facebook and snapchat. It’s a series of rooms, where moderators facilitate a discussion. These discussions range from TedTalk like speakings engagements to much more interactive spaces. Many are open for anyone to join and you can even host your own as a free user.

It’s got loads of users already: many are entrepreneurs, marketers, crafters like you and me, etc. There are motivational speakers, productivity hackers, coaches of all kinds, and more. You can pop in and out of rooms at your leisure and connect with people you might otherwise never have known. And when I say connect, I mean the atmosphere in the app is so great that people really want to connect and get to know you. It’s not like where people spam you on LinkedIn to boost their numbers and sell you web development services.

As I mentioned above, the app is still in Beta Testing. Users can invite others to join but at this time I do not have any more invites. If you’re not on the app yet, you can sign up for the wait list. If a clubhouse user has your number in their phone, they can approve you and invite you in. If you send me an email and really want to join we can exchange deets and hopefully I can let you in!

Okay, But Why Is It So Great for Knitters?

In a pandemic many of us are missing the days when we could meet at a coffee shop and knit together. While Zoom and Facebook have brought many of us together, Clubhouse is super easy to use. There is no video component so you don’t have to change out of your PJs. There are always rooms open so if you can’t sleep or need to feel connected just open the app.

I’ve hopped on knitting Zoom calls and feel like there is always a lot of interest but more barriers than opportunities to join. With Clubhouse rooms there are no passwords, no links to copy, just notifications and one easy click.

I’m really looking forward to chatting about knitting, patterns, learning new skills, tips for knitters looking to sell patterns and finished works, and more!
