The Wedding Tasting

Was Divine

When we started to plan this wedding, I knew immediately who I wanted to have as our caterer.  There has been one man and his wonderful team of people who have consistently surprised us with their food, their professionalism, and their kindness – and as a result, has become our go to.  This man is not only an incredible chef, but he’s a wonderful person who is always so full of love and compassion.  It might sound like I’m laying it on thick, but if you know him, you know I’m not.

Who is this perfect option you ask? John Marshall Catering.

They do it all – from a stress free Thanksgiving dinner, to Italian, to the best brunch you’ve ever had, to donating meals during the holidays to those who are in need – to our German Themed wedding.  They really do it all, and when they do it, they pull out all of the stops.  We’ve used John Marshall Catering for weddings, graduation parties, brunches, dinners and just about everything in between.

We’re having our reception at the Treesdale Community Center and John Marshall is bringing not just the food but the bartenders, the linens, the silverware, everything – so that we don’t have to worry about a thing.  I was so excited for my Fiancé and his family to meet John and taste his incredible food, because despite my fervent efforts here, you can’t do it or him justice.

With different people being out of town, the only time we could schedule the tasting was during one of the busiest weeks for a caterer- Thanksgiving week.  John graciously fit us into his busy schedule and hosted our party of seven at his location on Route 8.  John and his staff treat you like family, and you feel completely at ease.  Then the food comes out.  We’re planning a buffet style dinner, so we had a fair amount of food to taste last night.  It’s the next morning and I still feel like I’m about to burst.  I couldn’t help but clean off my plate with every round – his food is just that good.  And when he said he can cook German fair, he means it.  Everything was exactly as we had hoped it would be and then some.

We tried sauerbraten, schnitzel, potato salad, cucumber salad, mashed potatoes, green beens, herb roasted chicken, I mean I’m having trouble remembering all that we tried because there was just so much and it was so good!  He topped it all off with gingerbread cookies that were heavenly.

Now we have to make the hard decisions about what to actually serve – which is going to be really tough, because after last night, I want it all.  We’ll figure it out in the meantime and you’ll just have to wait to see what we pick!

How’d we get to know John? John and my family attended Saint Richards Parish in Gibsonia – which is the church in which we are getting married. John has done luncheons, brunches, breakfasts, Oktoberfests and so much more for the church and over the years we really got to know him as a person.  When John told me we could do whatever I wanted for my wedding, to make it perfect, I had no doubt that I could ask for anything, and he’d find a way to deliver.  He’s just that kind of a guy.  I wholeheartedly and sincerely recommend him for any event you might be planning.  Just give them a call and within the first five minutes, you’ll know, you’re in great hands.
